The Market on Yates opened on the corner of Yates and Quadra Streets in 1999. A family operation founded by Ernie Skinner, The Market’s unique selection and service quickly made it a favourite among Victoria’s downtown dwellers.
With a great selection of organic goods, a variety of brands you won’t find anywhere else and fun grocery displays like the renowned Wall of Flame (with Victoria’s finest selection of international gourmet hot sauces), The Market quickly captured Victorians’ desire for something different.
Inspired by his belief that a neighbourhood grocer can be the heart of a community, Ernie Skinner used his 50 years of grocery experience, which includes being a founding partner of Thrifty Foods, to establish his vision for a market in downtown Victoria.
The Market on Yates “Chocoholic Bar” features a variety of scrumptious local and gourmet chocolate bars.
